Portulaca Umbraticola “Hanging” Wingpod purslane
Wingpod purslane, or Portulaca umbraticola, is a tiny, succulent annual or short-lived perennial with fleshy foliage and vibrant blooms that range in color from flaming reds and pinks to tangerine oranges.
It's especially well-suited for starting from seed and then transplanting into pots and containers, as well as vibrant summer and fall bedding arrangements. It is well known for withstanding drought and will grow in the brightest, hottest heat.
Grow Portulaca umbraticola in full sun with well-drained soil for optimal results. Cut back half of the growth of plants if they begin to look messy in the summer to promote new, flower-bearing shoots. Use a slow-release fertilizer that is balanced and water your plants carefully.
